Welcome to Our School!

Welcome

Welcome to KCES!

Thanks for looking us upon the web!  We hope you find our website helpful.  It is continually a work in progress. We appreciate your patience as we construct and maintain a site in which our community may take pride.

For those who are unfamiliar with KCES, we are a large K - 5 elementary school, with some pre-school offerings, located in quiet, rural area of Northwest Indiana.  Aside from our regular classroom opportunies, we offer many specials classes (Music, Art, PE, Computer Applications, and Science Lab).  We also host a full complement of special needs classes.  Being a large elementary school, we have a variety of extra-curricular offerings (5th Grade Basketball, Student Council, Bell Choir, Science Club, and Tech Tribe).

If you would like to visit us in person, please feel free to give us a call and arrange a time.

Enjoy your internet visit!

Sincerely,
Glenn Barnes
KCES Principal

Mission/Vision

Whatever it takes, Knox students are worth it!

Vision Statement:

Knox Schools are schools of choice where all students learn in a comprehensive, rigorous, and technologically current educational environment. Student-centered programs develop leadership skills and the individual interests of the students. Students are supported by personnel with high expectations and integrity.

Effective communication, positive interactions, and transparent, fiscally responsible decisions form a relationship of trust and respect between the school and community.  Prioritizing and maintaining a safe, productive learning environment make Knox Schools a source of pride in the community.

Drop Off / Pick Up

AM Student Drop Off

  • Students who are dropped off by parents or who walk to school need to enter the building at Door 7 from 7:30-7:50am

  • Students dropped off before 7:30am will not be supervised

  • See Map for Door 7 Drop off areas

  • Gates to the parking lot will be closed at 7:50am and parking lot staff will close and lock Door 7.

  • Students dropped off by parents or who walk to school after 7:50am need to enter the building at Door 1

  • Please do not drop off a student at Door 7 after 7:50am because it is not guaranteed that they will be able to enter the building at that door.

PM Student Transportation

  • Students who are deemed “walkers” will exit the building at 2:45pm via Door 8.  Please note that walkers will not be supervised after the parking lot staff leaves at 2:55pm.

  • Students who are deemed “pick ups” will be held inside Door 7 with supervision until an approved adult comes to claim them.  Any students not picked up after 3:10pm will be escorted to the office to await pick up.

  • PM transportation changes should be sent in with your child in the morning with their first and last name, the dates the change is effective, the teacher’s name, and how they will be getting home clearly stated.

  • If you call in a transportation change, please do so before 1pm if at all possible.  This ensures enough time to inform the teacher verbally and with a transportation change note in their mailbox as well.
